We have registered an important flora and fauna protected by Peruvian and international legislation, as well as endemic species. We can find approximately a total of 139 species of plants, distributed in 112 genera and 58 families in the area.
The Sanctuary consists of a wet mountain rain forest of Yungas, which presents special ecological characteristics. This allows the area to shelter an important flora and fauna of restricted range and high levels of endemism.
In addition, it is a representative area of what the inter-Andean valley of Ollantaytambo was, near the Urubamba river basin.
Due to its strategic geographical location near the historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, it has the particular conditions to offer its visitors the practice and development activities related to nature.
